Citizens
Band (working title)
C55 films
is currently in development and production of a documentary looking
at contemporary
CB radio enthusiasts.
CB
radio originated in the US and spread to the UK as it grew in popularity
throughout the
late 70’s before being legalized in GB in 1981. In recent years
we’ve seen the explosion of
social networking and through our computers and mobile phones are permanently
hooked into
our various feeds and streams of updates. It’s easy to forget
that radio technology came
before all this, however with changes in the Earth's atmosphere that
peak every eleven years
CB radio enthusiasts have a chance to communicate over long distances
(sometimes thousands
of miles) on a device designed to transmit less than 20miles.
We would like to meet CB radio devotees that want to take part in our
film. As with any
pastime the interest lies not only in the activity but also in what
motivates people to get
involved and become fanatical about their hobbies.
We are really interested in the stories that each CBer has to tell,
the history, technology and
stories about interesting things that have happened, meets, maybe even
a meeting a partner
on the radio!
We
want to put a slice of life on the screen and will always ensure that
we are completely fair
in our representation of all contributors involved.
Our
approach to filming is with small crews to follow our CB devotees as
they transmit and
receive broadcasts. We are also ready to deploy or crews to capture
the action as skwave propogation increases and enthusiasts make for
the hills.
C55 films focuses on real life, real people, real stories. We have produced
work that has been
shown on MTV, BBC, & ITV but still retain the values that count
when dealing with real people.
